Help MATT MCCUDDEN Beat Cancer
$100,000 target
It’s with heavy hearts that we are reaching out to you our friends. Our wonderful Matt was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma just one day prior to his 40th birthday at the end of January.
As the father of two young sons (Armie, 2 & Theodore, 5 months) and devoted husband to his loving wife Ashley, this is the time in Matt’s life that should be focused wholly on his family and building their future. Instead, Matt has found himself in the fight of his life.
The fifth of seven siblings, uncle to twenty-two nieces and nephews, brother-in-law to ten, son-in-law and son - Matt has had a unique impact on each and every one of us in our lives and he is loved by us all.
He is truly the most generous, selfless and kind-hearted individual who has always gone to extraordinary lengths to support his family, friends and anyone else that needed his help or friendship. Over the 40 years of his life, his character has become synonymous with integrity, honesty and commitment and he is a valued, highly regarded member of his workplace, his local church, and his community.
In early 2017, Matt and his beautiful, Minnesota born and bred, wife Ashley, moved north to the Sunshine Coast to start a whole new chapter of their lives and to begin raising a family. That journey in itself has not been an easy one, with them both facing the immense difficulties and expenses involved with Ashley not being an Australian citizen and the lack of government benefits and limited parenting payment assistance and legal loopholes one must jump through to try and become a citizen of the country, has caused immeasurable stress. Of course, due to COVID, Ashley has also been unable to have her family close by and is now facing the incredibly difficult journey ahead without their precious hands-on support during this time.
Back in November 2020, Matt had a few health issues that eventually led him to take some time off work in January to undergo a series of tests. Unfortunately, the diagnosis wasn’t positive. On the 28th January, the day before his 40th birthday, Matt was informed that he has stage 4, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The urgency and severity of this report requires that Matt commence immunotherapy and chemotherapy immediately. This means that he will need to cease work in its current capacity and create space in this season to do his treatment well.
We are devastated, but we will not lose hope. We are inviting you to partner with us, Matt’s family - to assist him and his young family, with:
- All current and ongoing medical and rehabilitation expenses
- All rental costs, l iving expenses and household bills (which recently increased)
- Extra child care fees so Ashley can attend Matt’s treatment sessions
These expenses are ongoing for the foreseeable future and for as long as it takes to win this battle.
Please help us support this family in their hour of need and do everything within our ability to return the kindness and generosity that Matt has given out to all during his life.
We can’t do it alone, but together we can ‘Help Matt McCudden Beat Cancer.’
