Kloe’s Critical Care
On behalf of the Pucek family progeny, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the thoughts and prayers for our precious Kloe. Without the love and support of the community in stepping into prayerful action, we truly believe there would be a different outcome.
Kloe does not have insurance at this time as her father’s previously scheduled jobs have been put on hold (self-employed business owner, Pucek Power and Electrical Services) due to the accident. As time continues to pass, the deficit begins to climb as procedures, ambulatory cost, hospital stay and loss of work stack up. We would like to relieve Josh and Tabitha of those additional anxieties so that they can focus solely on the recovery of our sweet Kloe. We kindly ask you to pray about financially helping this fundraising endeavor as it would greatly serve to ease their burdens. What happened…
On Tuesday, November 22, 2022 our family experienced a tragic accident. The family was gathering together at the family ranch preparing for the upcoming Thanksgiving celebration. The kids were all hard at play when Kloe was involved in a rollover ATV accident. Kloe was immediately taken to the closest Emergency Room in Junction, Texas where her condition was very critical. She would be stabilized through life-saving means including two units of blood as she was hemorrhaging and her body was in complete shock. She was then transferred to University Hospital in San Antonio, a level 1trauma hospital, via ambulance as life flight was grounded.
Kloe has continued to fight for her life every day post accident as her parents, Josh and Tabitha, stand by her side on the road to recovery. She sustained multiple, critical injuries to her little body including a grade 5 liver injury and laceration (grade 5 most severe), slight tear in the descending aorta, a large open wound to the anterior abdominal region, internal organ trauma contributing to fluid build-up in the abdominal and chest cavity, a broken clavicle, and a fractured pelvis. She has gone through multiple procedures to address the needs of her body including a ventilator temporarily placed to breathe for her lungs, a pleural (chest) cavity tube insertion to drain fluid around the lungs, blood transfusions, an abdominal drain tube insertion to externally drain blood/bile/fluid, an ERCP procedure placing stents in the bile ducts of the liver to allow for drainage of bile into intestines, and a wound vac placed within the abdominal wound to promote healing as vitals continually are assessed and evaluated in the balancing act of stabilization. Her medications are continually being modified to assess each particular need, reactivity, and the medication’s effectiveness. Unfortunately, delirium has set in. Her pain tolerance and emotional state are dependent upon the day, procedure, activity or state of consciousness. Infection and blood clotting remain a concern. Although the injuries seem incomprehensible, not all is lost! We know that Kloe is a fiery, strawberry blonde with a strong will that does not take no for an answer…she will not give up the fight! All the praise, honor, thanksgiving and glory be given to God for the gift of her life and the healing we will continue to proclaim!
