Rand is such a great guy, one of those guys that Everybody loves. His co-workers suggested that we set up a crowd sourced fundraiser so they can help and also share the word to help with the many things we have needed to purchase in a short amount of time. As you can imagine there are many necessities he needs that insurance doesnt cover. And when insurance does cover it they take forever and he needs equipment now, not next year!

In August of 2021, we celebrated Rands 60th Birthday as he recovered from Julys neck surgery. He was having fun with family and friends, throwing horseshoes and drinking beer. He seemed great. In just a few short weeks he was having twitching again in his left arm and muscle weakness in the arm as well.

He quickly lost his grip and thus use of his left arm. Within a month and a half, his left arm had the appearance as if he had a stroke. All of this decline happened during a time when I had a major spinal surgery and he was taking care of me and trying to return to work after his own surgery.

His health quickly diminished. We thought he had Lymes. We got referrals to a neurologist and in the mean time tried to see if it was Lymes or not and went through a 30 day detox prescribed by an iridologist, just in case.

In December he finally saw Neuro and went through multiple tests and labs and was finally given a diagnosis. ALS. This is just heartbreaking! Of all the people in the world, why Rand?

We are doing everything that we can to celebrate every day, every minute when he feels up to it. But ALS SUCKS!!! Rand now uses a wheel chair for any distance outside the house, sleeps with a c-pap/vent so that he can actually sleep and rest his body.

He hates to make this and ask for money from anyone. But sometimes you need help and have to ask. We have no idea what we are up for or what we will need next. We just ordered him a $1800 lift chair so he can be comfortable and have the help he needs to stand. That took all of our money that was planned for another repair project at the house. But the chair is more important!

To our friends, family and potential donors…. Thank you for any amount that you can donate. Most importantly, hug your loved ones often. Tell them you love them often. Because just a few months ago my husband could hug me. I miss that so very much. Never take anything for granted.
