Cancer does not discriminate, and for the Snead family, this harsh reality has become painfully clear as they embark on the tumultuous journey that follows a cancer diagnosis. We all know and care for someone who has faced this life-altering illness, yet it always arrives unexpectedly.
Jared and Victoria are the fortunate parents of three beautiful daughters. Their time is spent navigating the delightful chaos that is the daily life of raising young children, filled with joy and laughter. Jared serves as the Pastor for Worship & Discipleship at Grace Community Baptist Church, diligently devoted to fulfilling God's will for both their congregation and family. Victoria, a registered nurse, works in the emergency room as well as at a local pregnancy resource center. Her devotion is demonstrated through her heartfelt service to others, embodying Christ-like kindness and love. When she isn't dedicating her time to work, she homeschools and nurtures their girls, fostering an environment of peace, comfort, and stability in their home. However, their beautifully busy life has been upended by a cancer diagnosis.
On Saturday, May 17th, Victoria received the devastating news that she has Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. The moment one learns they are facing breast cancer is nothing short of shocking. At just 33 years old and while raising a young family, the reality of the diagnosis feels even more surreal. With unwavering faith, grace, and hope, the Sneads immediately turned to the Lord, finding their strength in prayer as they prepared to navigate this challenges ahead. Following a week filled with numerous doctor appointments, tests, and consultations, it has become abundantly clear that their lives will be put on hold as they traverse the turbulent waters of this health battle. Fortunately, the medical team is optimistic that treatment will successfully eliminate the cancer, allowing Victoria to reclaim her health. While further tests are necessary to determine the complete treatment plan, the Sneads are already facing additional biopsies, scans, hormone therapy, and surgery in the weeks ahead. Chemotherapy may also be a consideration, though we all pray that surgery proves sufficient to remove all cancerous cells. The recovery from surgery alone will be lengthy, during which Victoria will be unable to work. If chemotherapy is required, it could take months to even a year for her to return. Moreover, insurance will not cover all of Victoria’s healing and recovery expenses, placing an additional financial burden on the Snead family.
Jared and Victoria have devoted their lives to ministry and service to the Church and those they encounter. Now, it's our turn to serve them.
