However, recent developments like Intravenous Ketamine Therapy, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and accelerated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (aTMS) offer hope. The Treatments at WIP (Ketamine and TMS)
Ketamine and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine works on an entirely different neurotransmitter system (glutamate) than the most common antidepressants (serotonin or norepinephrine). This provides an alternative treatment path for those not responding to conventional approaches. By increasing glutamate concentrations, ketamine infusion leads to widespread synaptogenesis and increases neuroplasticity. This precipitates profound changes in depressive symptoms and induces fast-acting anti-suicidality effects.
At WIP, we have seen that ketamine can enhance psychotherapeutic exploration and provide quicker solutions for patients. We offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy at our practice to expedite the transformations that take place in therapy.

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) - Accelerated and Regular
TMS therapy is a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical, FDA approved (cleared for depression since 2008) device to treatment Major Depressive Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It is free from common antidepressant drug side effects such as weight gain and sexual dysfunction.
TMS is a nueromodulation technique that uses electromagnetic induction to depolarize nuerons in the left dorsalateral prefrontal cortex. This area of the brain is key to the regulation of mood and is known to be down-regulated in depressed brains. Through repetitive TMS stimulations, depressive symptoms are relieved and healthy functioning can be restored.
