No thanksDr Reid Plastic Surgery hasn't added a story.
Welcome!
Body contouring surgery after extreme weight loss is a relatively new sub-specialty in plastic surgery. However, here at Reid Plastic Surgery, we have an intimate understanding of the benefits to physical and mental health these procedures have for patients and we are committed to taking you through the final steps of your weight loss journey to achieve these benefits as well. Our goal is to deliver great results at a median price point that is comparable with those offered by other providers. We do understand not everybody is in a position to finance their surgery on their own, and as British Columbia's MSP program does not cover this procedure, we have partnered with CoCoPay to provide your community with the chance to support you in a secure and genuine way.
You deserve the body you worked so hard for! |
Through this portal, you can register your own campaign to call on donations from your network, which will be applied directly to your account with Dr. Reid. To begin, hit the Register button at the top of this page. You will require your account number given to you at your consultation appointment.
Once you have completed registration, you will be immediately re-directed to your personal crowd-financing page. It is important to note that it will be your responsibility to personalize your campaign, as well as to share it with your network. Reid Plastic Surgery nor CoCoPay will market or promote your campaign.

How to write your story and personalize your campaign
Story
When writing your story, consider the following tips:
- Do not make it too long; aim for around 500 words
- Insert pictures, use headings and font size/colour changes to add visual appeal
-
Follow these guidelines for
campaign storytelling:
- Open with a catching statement or question
- Describe the problems you are facing right now (physical, emotional, or otherwise)
- Mention how your life will change with this surgery; is there something you've always wanted to try but haven't been able to? How about something you can no longer do that you want to get back to?
- Bridge the gap between this life change and the current issues you face by outlining the lack of coverage for this type of surgery
- Identify your donors as heroes in your story as they help you reach your goals.
- Ask your readers to share your campaign with their networks; this will increase your exposure and inspire others!
- Make a promise to update your donors along this process. By updating, you are continuing the story for your readers; because it doesn't end here! Share your struggles and your triumphs along the way as a thank you to those you supported you, and it provides an avenue for them to write encouraging notes as well. Think about ways to pay their kindness forward as well; perhaps you have always wanted to run in a short race or a marathon - consider joining a run for a local charity! These all make for excellent updates to your supporters.
- Every story will have an automatically added piece about Dr. Reid and the clinic at the end, outlining where the funds go.
You are always free to write your own story as you see fit, however, we understand not everyone has the time to focus on crafting the right words. Copy and paste the story below to use as your own, then fill in the personal parts as indicated. Insert pictures anywhere you like around the story as well!
Weight loss is not a simple process; extreme weight loss, be it from a change in lifestyle or with the aid of bariatric surgery, comes with some added difficulty. Even once the weight is gone.
*Enter a few details about your own weight loss journey: outlining the lifestyle changes (such as diet and exercise) and procedures you've had (if applicable). How much weight did you lose?
Your skin does not bounce back easily after losing that amount of weight in a relatively short time span, and the skin folds resulting from it are affecting me in ways that affect my day-to-day life: *outline personal challenges such as at work, home with kids or pets, exercising, sleep, relationships, etc.
It can be difficult to move in certain ways with skin folds getting in my way, but what's worse is the pain from irritation. This can even lead to severe infection. Plus, I feel as though every time someone looks at me, all they can see is these loose flaps of skin.
I have consulted with Dr. Reid in Vancouver/Richmond, and he agrees that my life will change with surgery to remove my excess skin. This isn't about looking good - it is about relieving physical and emotional pain.
Unfortunately, MSP does not cover these procedures. Insert your consultation results: how many surgeries will you require? What is the cost of your quote?
I am here today to ask you to be a hero in my story. With your financial and emotional support, you will be helping me be the person I have been striving to be. I want to be able to *write about what you want to do when you've recuperated. Is there a sport you've always wanted to try? Trip you've wanted to take? Do you want to be able to do something special with your kids or release your inner daredevil on some crazy adventure? Together, we can get there.
Also, I understand that not everyone is in a position to contribute. You can also help by sharing my story - use the buttons about this story and help spread the word so that I may inspire others as well! If you are unable to donate but would still like to receive updates about this journey, hit the "Subscribe" button at the top of this page to receive email notifications about updates.
In return, I promise to take you along on this journey! Updates of my procedure(s) and recuperation will be posted to this campaign so I can show you firsthand just how much your support means to me. You are also able to write me notes as well; this won't be an easy or painless process and your encouragement will mean all of the difference!
Finally, as a way to pay your kindness forward, I will *Consider volunteering, participating in fundraising events, or other ways to give back to the community.
* Add in a heartfelt thank you in your own words to end your story

How to update and share your campaign
Updating
Update your campaign with anything relevant to your journey: progress photos, anecdotes, thoughts/feelings, consultation and procedure statuses, etc. There isn’t a hard rule on how often this should be done, however once or twice a week is a good guide. You should not be simply asking for donations over and over again; these should be real updates with new information and media.
Update simply by clicking the "Update" tab at the top of your Story. This will email out to everyone who has donated or subscribed to your campaign.
